Reading a College Football Moneyline
A moneyline lists two numbers — one for the favorite, one for the underdog. The favorite carries a negative number, like -180, meaning you'd wager $180 to return $100 in profit. The underdog shows a positive number, like +155, meaning a $100 wager returns $155 in profit. Unlike a point-spread wager, the margin of victory is irrelevant. Your team just has to
win outright. In college football this matters a lot — blowouts happen constantly, and a late garbage-time score can flip a spread while leaving your moneyline intact. Juice, which is the sportsbook's built-in cut, sits between both sides of the line and is why the numbers don't mirror each other exactly.
